Meter reading
Our smart meters feature individual Power Line Communications (PLC) technology. PLC is a method of transferring
large amounts of accurate metered data over existing power lines, thus eliminating the need to core drill and
run communication cables through the building.
Our system is capable of highly secure communications to and from hundreds of metering points. Metered
data is stored in three places: the meter, the Transponder and in our databases (once retrieved). This redundancy
gives our customers the confidence to rely on our systems.
With Enbridge Electric, electricity consumption is measured and recorded hourly and automatically read. Occupants
will never have to call in their own meter readings.
